Support for Savannah

Students, players, and the Wildcat came out on Thursday, January 22nd, to support senior Savannah Grindle  and her fight against bone cancer at the boys' basketball game against Wisconsin Heights. Savannah was able to join the crowd for the home girls' game against New Glarus on Thursday, January, 29. This followed a Scoopie Night at the New Glarus Culver's on January 12th. A food drive for the family will continue until the end of the month. Members of the Raider wrestling team have also volunteered their time to help raise money and collect food donations for Savannah and her family at Burresons.

Teens for Jeans

Britney Markhardt, Clarice Loeffelholz, and Rachel Uebelacker have organized a Teens for Jeans Campaign for the high school this year. It began on January 19th with a collection in the main office. The photo below shows the three collecting jeans at the January 29th girls' basketball game versus New Glarus. Students who donate their used jeans receive a $5 coupon from Aeropostale. The jeans are then donated to teens at local homeless shelters. The girls will be collecting again at the home boys' basketball game on February 5th against Marshall. The collection in the main office will continue in the meantime.

AB Block Schedule Proposal

After last night's school board meeting, we have been given the go-ahead to present the proposed AB Block Schedule for the high school to parents. Two meetings are now scheduled, one on Tuesday, February 3rd from 4-5pm in the high school library and another on Thursday, February 5th from 5-6pm in the high school library. The two meetings will be the same, providing an overview of the proposed schedule and an opportunity to ask any questions. We will be making the rounds through the RtI groups to give more information to students in the meantime. Your students are welcome to attend these after-school meetings with you. Our scheduling procedures are designed to fit both the current or AB schedule for next year. If you are unable to make one of these meetings, please feel free to call (424-1902 Ext. 440) or e-mail me (perryn@belleville.k12.wi.us). We hope to see you there!

Wildcat Pride Day

After an Early Release Schedule on Friday, January 23, students met for class meetings after lunch. The seniors began preparing for their final semester and graduation. The underclassmen met to begin scheduling for next year. Once those meetings concluded, students with two or less disciplinary referrals since the holiday break (ALL THE STUDENTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL!) participated in Wildcat Pride Day. Twelve stations were set up for the remainder of the afternoon. Students played table tennis and basketball in the gym. They played board games and chess in classrooms. Mrs. Gartley also hosted a "Make-it & Take-it" baking session in her classroom. Mrs. Norton was available all afternoon as well for scheduling questions. It was successful enough that we will consider holding another Wildcat Pride Day next year (with improvements)!

MLK Soup Supper

Once again the community came out to support the Martin Luther King Soup Supper at the high school held on January 19th. The dining crowd was treated to student-designed soup bowls, beautiful piano playing by freshmen Eve Palmer (and her mother), and of course, delicious soup. National Honor Society members covered tables and greeted guests. Organizer Susette Alsteens noted, "The same people come back year after year for this."
