Badger Boys' State

Three Belleville seniors-to-be spent last week on the Ripon College campus with over 800 other young men from around the state. The Badger Boys' State program is sponsored by the American Legion and teaches students about leadership and the role of government by simulating the creation of a 51st state and all that goes along with it.

Belleville was represented by Cash Hoffman, Patrick Schwoegler, and Joey Sokol. They were selected by the high school's Leadership Committee, under the direction of Gifted & Talented Coordinator Sandy Walejko. Dave Eustice and American Legion Post 460 worked to sponsor the boys.

Patrick won a seat as a municipal judge and also ran for circuit court judge and state Supreme Court justice. Joey ran for city and county treasurer.  All three boys had the opportunity to meet Governor Walker.
