March Madness Campaign

Mrs. Alsteens and the National Honor Society created a bracket competition for different 3B classes in an effort to collect Belleville food pantry donations. In all, over 1,200 items were donated by our students and staff. Mrs. Jenkins' AP Lit. & Lang. class won the competition by collecting over 550 food items on their own! That class defeated the Main Office and Mrs. Tretow's class in consecutive weeks. Mrs. Alsteens reports that this was the most successful food drive to-date! Thanks to all of those who contributed.

Ethics Symposium Day at BHS

Belleville High School juniors and seniors led an Ethics Symposium during today's (3-25) Early Release schedule. These students had been trained by the Rotary Club over the last two years. Mrs. Walejko and Mrs. Miller guided the process, but it was truly student-led. After an introductory skit in the auditorium, the student leaders took their peers (separated into 9 large groups) through three ethical dilemmas. Staff helped to facilitate these respectful interactions. The day ended with feedback and input for a future session. It was a great day to be a Wildcat!

Research Presentations in MS ELA

Mrs. Schultz's 8th grade students presented their research topics to classmates today. You can see her learning objective below.
Students like Bryson Jelle and Royce Clark utilized our 1:1 technology to take their classmates through presentations on a variety of topics. Bryson focused on nuclear weapons in Iran, while Royce concentrated on the current state of Syria. These presentations incorporated speaking and listening into the reading and writing components of the research. They also met technology integration standards.
This lesson demonstrates many of the district's initiatives (literacy and technology) that have been the focus of our teachers this year.
