On Tuesday, May 3rd, a group of 23 gathered at Belleville High School to hear speakers and a panel discussion on teen alcohol and drug use. This event was hosted by the Belleville Area Cares Coalition. Dr. Judy Reed and Special Agents Gist and Pertzborn (of the Division of Criminal Investigation) presented for about a half hour each before joining Dr. Alison Brock (UW Health Belleville Family Medicine) and Judge Mary Gehin on a panel presentation. Topics covered included the rise in heroin use, over-the-counter drug misuse, and prescription drug abuse. This event, along with a Mock Crash scheduled for Thursday, May 5th, were held as preventative efforts with Prom on Saturday night and graduation on June 5th.
